Incentive & reward

Recognising and rewarding colleagues is important to Motorpoint; the business prides itself on being ranked the UK’s number one automotive company to work for in the bHeard survey 2022. In October they made good on a promise to reward the senior management team for achieving sales targets with a well-deserved overseas trip and the business 2-day annual conference was temporarily relocated to Portugal’s sunny south coast.

M&P found the perfect venue in Pine Cliffs, a luxury 5-star resort and exquisite seafront jewel enjoying spectacular views of the amazing Algarve.

Flights were booked, boarding passes and rooming lists issued, and upon arrival, guests were greeted with beach totes filled with lots of useful items for a couple of days of fun in the sun including SPF30, water bottles, fans, beach balls, and branded sunglasses.

Staggered flight arrivals from across the UK allowed guests plenty of time to unwind and enjoy the resort’s pool, gym, spa, and golf facilities. The informal first evening began with cocktails at the cliff-top Champagne bar, Mirador where guests mingled together and bathed in the golden glow of the evening sun. A relaxed outdoor BBQ dinner followed bringing colleagues together under a canopy of stars to catch up and network.

Outdoor conference

Taking full advantage of the glorious weather, the conference was held outdoors on day two in the garden grounds. A set and stage, lighting rig, comfort monitors, and a 5m x 3m LED screen were installed on-site. Delegates were seated on white director’s chairs underneath shade sails large enough to obscure the direct sunlight but not the spectacular view.

Three other areas of the garden were designated as breakout spaces and kitted out with presentation screens. Sessions were conducted under the shady pine trees with relaxed bean bag seating and epic views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Creative event identity and theming were inspired by a blending of the brand colours with a sunset gradient and the faint light trails of cars on a motorway abstracted in the background. For the evening, the light trails became more prominent, taking on a neon glow against a dark night-black background. Our in-house team designed and created all event branding, presentation decks, motion graphics, and video content for the conference.

Sundowner celebrations

With the conference wrapped, guests were invited to freshen up and change for dinner before taking the scenic boardwalk, descending the red sandstone cliffside, to the beachfront restaurant, Maré – all timed perfectly to catch the setting sun.

They were greeted on the sand with the Motorpoint signature sundowner cocktail, Part-Ex on the Beach, fantastic fire performers, live musicians, DJ, and even the Motorpoint brand logo projected onto the cliffside. Dinner was a fusion of fresh seafood and traditional Portuguese dishes and a selection of wines from the excellent local vineyards.

The Motorpoint team partied hard into the early hours, making use of the giant selfie frames, glitter makeup stations, and 360 video booth positioned on the roof terrace.

Meet&Potato helped make our event truly spectacular! The M&P team was brilliant at bringing ideas to the table that we hadn’t considered. Their creative delivery and flair were first-class and helped take things to another level. Their onsite event support was also phenomenal; they were absolutely invested in the smooth running, but also ensured our internal communications team was able to enjoy things too. We can’t speak more highly of the team and the event.
