Industry Awards
Celebrating in an awe-inspiring venue
The annual Mersey Maritime Industry Awards brings together the regional North West and national maritime sectors in celebration and recognition of success. This was our seventh year planning and producing this prestigious event and it’s one that remains very close to our hearts.
Always a glittering affair with black tie, Champagne, and chandeliers, 2022 was a step up due to the fact that it was also the organisation’s 20th anniversary.
Guests arriving at the iconic Anglican Cathedral were welcomed to a Champagne drinks reception in the Well underneath the iconic stained glass window and Tracey Emin’s, Love Letter to Liverpool – ‘For You.’ The magnificent Gothic arches were bathed with light in brand colours, giving way to six plasma screens that displayed the evening’s agenda, award sponsors, and nominees on a loop.
The stunning view across the central space to the High Altar was temporarily placed in total darkness until the Royal Marine Cadets Pipe Band struck up a rousing and emotional tune that filled the air with a sense of pride. Their musical crescendo was the cue for the surprise reveal, as the Cathedral was flooded with light to guide 600 guests to their dining tables in this magnificent venue.
Journalist and former BBC news presenter, Louise Minchin, was once again our celebrity host for the evening. The audience also heard from Nus Ghani MP, Canon Philip Anderson, and Mersey Maritime CEO, Chris Shirling-Rooke.
The evening began with an emotional video that looked back on 20 years of success via interviews with the original founders, CEOs past and present, today’s board members, and the next generation of Mersey Maritime. This forward-thinking, diverse team will deliver the future vision for the industry over the next 20 years.
Mersey Maritime’s strength lies in its philosophy that ‘together we are stronger’ and success is achieved through collaboration, communication, and common goals. We couldn’t agree more. We are a proud member of Mersey Maritime and delighted to deliver such a high-profile event in our home city.
We produced the opening video and all the awards presentations, designed and printed all branded collateral, and, just like Tracey Emin, the work was a love letter to Liverpool and the spectacular Anglican cathedral.
"Thank you all so much for your support over the past few months in delivering the awards. The feedback we have received has been fantastic and the cathedral looked amazing on the night!"
Ruth Wood, Head of Commercial at Mersey Maritime
